As others mentioned, if you bring your own blank key there is no guarantee. Doug cut two spare keys for my 2000 Subaru from the shop's blanks and had me make sure they worked before I left (they work perfectly.) In and out in 10 minutes at a completely reasonable price. Doug also cut keys for a 2017 Toyota with blanks I brought in last year, "no guarantee," and they worked great after I programmed them at home. Some other reviewers say this is an "old school" or "no BS" place, either in a negative or positive way; I'll just say that it's true and all boils down to how you perceive that style of business for you...the place smells like a cigarette butt sometimes but that's a tradeoff I'm willing to make.

Today was a second try visit for help on a ignition car key. Another bad experience with ol' school locksmiths that been in the industry for many years. They do not want to make time for walk-ins. One can sense their bothersome disposition for small like customer issues. Bad vibe in the shop. Perhaps because the key shop has not changed in over 40 years as I remembered it. Must be the dust and all that Beach Blvd traffic. Too bad for this dying industry that will one day be replaced by another Asian shop. Goodbye forever! By the way, removed the Porsche tumbler cylinder with a wooden stir stick and a thin flat head driver. Took some patience, but pretty simple. Thank you for your rude and bad attitude. If it wasn't for that, I would have not learned about the tumbler cylinder mechanics. Knowledge is power. Take time to teach people to fish.

After getting see denied at 2 dealers and getting astronomical qoutes from multiple locksmiths ((ludicrous prices!!) And even getting hung up on because I declined to pay triple digits to have them cut my blank from one place. The Buena Park service tech pointed me to this little shop close by and let me tell you. I thank God this shop still in business! The owner was a no BS straight to the point kinda guy. Told me there is no guarantee, which is completely understandable if you bring your own blank. (To expect a guarantee in this kind of case would be very unreasonable on the customers part.) I paid a very reasonable price. He cut the key, it works perfectly and I am one happy customer. Simple, like it should be. You need a key, lock or whatever related job done, no frills. This is the place. Too bad business don't operate like this anymore. Support your local businesses!! Especially during these times!! 👍
