Great idea, easy to use, well-turned key, but the metal alloy used is light, fragile, possibility of wearing down faster in older steel locks.

I came back to my apartment late at night only to realize I had left my keys at work. Instead of biking the 25 miles or taking the train I was simply able to bike over to Safeway and have KeyMe make me a new apartment key. I already had my key stored in their system so everything took about 10 mins. A new key cost $8 which is so much cheaper than having a locksmith come out late at night. You are given prices upfront and not after the machine starts making the key(s).

The locksmith came fast (about 15-20min), his service was performed in the time of signing a signature. The cost was $188 (for opening a locked door), I can’t tell if it was expensive or not because I had no experience in this matter. 2 star because instead of turning the key clockwise to open the lock, now I had to turn it counter-clockwise. While the locksmith ensured me that the lock must be opened counter-clockwise before, my husband and me who lived there for a long time are certain that it’s not.

Service was good, it was very fast but they need to give estimate first and then start the work. I kept on asking the estimation of a key but they finished their work and gave me the receipt for the service, it was pretty expensive!! I was lil disappointed ☹️
