Heart of America Locksmith company located in Lenexa Kansas is the worst business I have had to deal with in 50 yrs. and for the reasons listed as follows: 1. Incompetence as a business a. Two young men in their late teens or early 20’s with their self acknowledged 2 yrs. of experience per individual, attempted to install a deadbolt lock on the side metal door of my garage. i. Regarding the drilling of the hole for the deadbolt latch. 1. The installers drilled a hole in the side of the door jamb measuring over 1 1/8” in circumference. The hole was nearly twice the circumference size of the deadbolt latch. The latch was not even close to fitting snug into the drilled hole in the door jamb, thus leaving a gap between the circumference size of the hole and the edge of the latch, making it easy for someone to pull the latch of the deadbolt out ripping through the door jamb. 2. I questioned the workmen on the size of the hole, and they appeared to have no concern or understanding of what I observed. 3. The workmen Alex and another man indicated that there was no fix to resolve their error. They indicated that installing a plate on the door jamb around the huge hole would not adequately fix the or correct the amount of play which occurred if attempting to force the door open, if someone was trying to pull the door and latch outward from a locked position. a. I initially trusted their judgement but found upon repeated attempts of pulling the door and latch, that there was play or space between the size of the outer circumference of hole and the size circumference of the latch, thus providing a potential burglar easy access into my garage. 4. I called the owner of the business to examine the installation job. a. The owner, I believe named Randy, found no problem with the drilling of the oversized hole of an inch and slightly more than an 1/8th inch diameter to fit the circumference of the latch that measured slightly less than ¾”. He stated that he always instructed his workers to drill a hole of an inch regardless of the circumference size of the latch (less than ¾”). The amount of space I in error is 3/8 “. b. When I challenged, the owner of the business, he mocked me stating that my carport’s door was built of flimsy material (it is made of Galvanized Steel), and that it would make no difference if I put this lock or any lock on my side garage door. c. I had to challenge him repeatedly for over 15 minutes of discussion to get him to install a face plate on the door jamb to make the lock more secure. d. Luckily, I have had to install another lock to secure the faulty lock.
