This gentleman is the real deal. He is a professional locksmith with several decades of experience, and it shows. My experience was with a door lock. I got locked out of my apartment — the deadbolt was locked and my key fell out of my pocket on a run. Super lame. It was a weekend, so I called whomever I could find, unaware the internet teems with scammers posing as locksmiths. In fact, the outfit I called contracts total hacks, no lock picking skills, just drilled a hole straight through the deadbolt, after “trying” to pick the lock for maybe a minute. Maybe. It was a complete bait and switch, at each juncture there were more and more bad surprises. “$39” and then “108” and then “$189” and finally $220 — but then it would have been another $90 to fix the lock they broke. Not wanting to give those grifters another cent, I waited until Monday to have the lock replaced, knowing I could reach AC Lock Service then. Mr. Appel, the tradesperson who operates AC Lock Service, came very quickly to replace the lock. Through talking with him I learned a lot about locks and about the hacks masquerading as locksmiths on the internet. Don’t be fooled! If you can wait til business hours, call AC Lock Service. Get it done right by a tradesperson.

I posted a scathing review of this business we should have been posted to a business in Sacramento by the same name. I have withdrawn my review of this business and offer my humble apologies to both the owner and anyone who read the previous review. Based on what the owner responded, I would have had very satisfactory results from this business. Unfortunately, I believe that they do not service Davis where I needed the work. Also unfortunately, I have unwittingly given a bad review to someone who does not deserve it.

This business delivers a fast & contactless service. Their service is faster and more reliable than everyone else is this area. It is also 1/3 of the price that you pay anywhere else. I don't know the guy's name but man, he is fast and accurate. He is attending out of the window during the pandemic so you don't go inside but rather make your order out of the window. There is easy parking around the corner next to the car wash.

Great service, even during a pandemic! The proprietor was helpful and honest. I bought a car key copying kit from ebay (with an extra key from Amazon). I had him cut them so that I could program them myself with the kit. He warned me that these kits are hit and miss, and that he has seen issues with my vehicle copying keys before (to the point that he wasn't comfortable doing it himself). I felt that he was honest about the risks, and he cut the keys for me at a reasonable price. Everything worked out; the keys were cut accurately, worked perfectly, and even programmed well. Overall a great experience, and I always appreciate honesty and a craftsperson who takes pride in their work. I will definitely be coming back the next time I have the need!
