Let me start by stating that I have never left a negative business review about a company before. I understand mix ups and misunderstandings happen. However, the way this company handles customer service issues is so shockingly rude, that I feel compelled to share my experience with this company. On 4/8/21, David Sutton of Affordable Locksmith Franklin made a new key fob for our car since we had lost our only key. On 6/6/2021, just under two months later, the battery in my key fob died while I was out running errands. I then took out the key inside the fob to at least unlock and start my car, only to find he had never keyed it. When I called David to tell him what happened and to ask that he remedy the situation, he stated the following: 1) he claimed he told my husband to get the key re-keyed at the dealership. My husband does not recall being told that, but given that it was two months ago and I was not personally present, I am not sure what was or wasn’t said, so I am not going to argue this point. However, I would expect for $250.00 to get a fully working car key when a locksmith comes onsite. 2) He said that key fob batteries die all the time and he does not offer any type of warranty. I responded that I’ve never had one die in less than two months. Of course I expect to change out batteries from time to time, but I’ve never had to do it in less than 2 months. 3) He said he could send someone out, but he would still charge the FULL service charge. I declined having him send someone out to fix it (which once again, I would have to pay for in full) since he didn’t fix it properly the first time. I expressed I was disappointed in his customer service and would leave an online review. At that point, he started yelling at me. He said “I hope you do leave a review since you can’t even figure out how to replace a battery on a key fob and you’re calling me to fix it after four months (it’s been two months).” I’ll add that it is difficult for me to put a new battery in the key fob while I am stuck at a shopping center, locked out of my car with a bad key fob, even though that is what he kept suggesting as the solution prior to yelling at me. After being yelled at, I quickly ended the conversation. I have never been treated so rudely by a company. I have been on the other side of customer issues before and I realize how difficult it can be to manage customer expectations and resolve complaints, but I do expect that the owner or representative of a business remain professional and never yell at a customer and treat them so poorly.
